On top of that, not being able to sleep on the flight really messed up my sleep schedule and so jet lag from the time change has been made even worse, so I'm completely out of whack and its so much worse that it otherwise would have been because of the horrible flight.

I am very upset about this flight and will not fly with American ever again. But despite the delay, the gate agent in Charlotte did a good job of updating people and remained very polite even when it was clear people were getting frustrated and starting to get sharp with him.
Pilots did a good job of trying to make up as much time as possible. I can't remember how much time they shaved off but I think it was more than 20 minutes. Customer service in LA was solid too.
